Nicholas Wang is seventeen years old and a junior at Seattle Preparatory School on north Capitol Hill. He began playing violin at the age of 4 1/2. He has studied with Mr. Charles Atwood and Dr. Cynthia Morrow, and currently is studying privately with Mr. Katsutoshi Nakamura. He played with the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2000 through 2009, and was the concertmaster of the Youth Symphony for the 2008-2009 season. Nicholas is currently a member of Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO). He has attended Marrowstone Summer Music Festival in Bellingham for the past two years, playing with the top orchestra this past summer. Nicholas has also been involved in a number of chamber groups, including the Calliope String Quartet last year, a SYSO Scholarship Chamber Ensemble. Through his school's drama program, Nicholas has played for various musicals and plays, including the pit orchestra for Guys and Dolls. He sings with his school choir, and was one of eight chosen to perform a solo or duet for the choir Christmas Concert. Most recently, Nicholas performed as a member of the chorus in Seattle Prep's production of Urinetown, the Musical.

Besides his interests in music, Nicholas is involved in several co-curricular activities through Seattle Prep, such as yearbook, global justice coalition, national honors society, and office of student life tech crew. He has run on the cross country and track teams in the past and still enjoys playing pick-up basketball in his spare time. He passionately enjoys playing violin, both as a soloist and as an orchestra member. Nicholas will certainly continue to make music an important part of his life in the years to come.
