Absent: Charlotte Hotchkiss.
Agenda Items:
1) March Minutes, as amended, were approved.
2) Rehearsal Space: After rehearsing at Wedgwood Presbyterian and reviewing comments and concerns, the Board approved the space for next year. The Board needs to hear from the church as far as the final dollar amount, we also need to make a determination of what can and cannot be stored there for the season. There is also one week when the space is not available, but this will not interfere with our rehearsal schedule. Action Item: Coordinate our move out of Music Center into the church in June.
3) Strategic Planning: The Board held a successful strategic planning session at the Broadview Library on April 5. The session was lead by consultant Valerie Courtney. The following Mission Statement was chosen with a final edit done during this board meeting: “Rain City Symphony connects people through the joy of creating and sharing live symphonic music.” The Board is planning a shorter follow-up session to discuss Rain City’s Vision, Values and other items. We are hoping to employ Valerie again.
4) Budget: The 2024/2025 Budget was approved. Our $12,000 4-Culture Grant will be spent as follows: $3,000 to Valerie Courtney for leading the April 5th Session; and $9,000 for new website development (see Below).
5) New Website Design: Bora has produced a draft of a proposal for a new website design that will define its scope and content. The draft will be emailed to the Board in the following days. The Board will discuss the draft through emails and finalize the proposal at the next board meeting. At that point, the Board will recruit technicians and designers using the $9,000 from the 4-Culture grant to create a final design. Note: this work does not include implementing the design, i.e., building the new website itself. The logistics and details of this will be determined in the coming months.
6) Next Board Meeting: May 8th, 7 p.m. Live or Zoom?
